TRUSTING GOD. PT 1

Psalm 121:1-8, Rom 4:18-22, Prov. 3:5-7

INTRODUCTION

Trusting God is the cornerstone of our relationship with God. Without it, our faith is fragile and our journey of faith will be filled with uncertainties.

WHAT IS TRUST?

Trust means believing that someone or something is reliable, honest, and good. It is feeling sure that a person will do what they say they will do, or that something will work the way it is supposed to. When you trust, you feel safe relying on that person or thing.

  1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TRUST GOD?
  2. Placing our lives and destinies in His hands. Prov. 3:5-6
  3. Keeping God's laws and words by faith. 2 Kings 18:5-7
  4. Believing that all things work together for our good. Rom. 8:28
  5. Exercising faith in God and His Word. Heb.11:1, Mark 9:23
  6. Seeking to please God. John 4:34, John 9:4, Phil 3:7-10,14, 1Cor 9:27
  7. REASONS WHY WE SHOULD TRUST ONLY IN GOD?
  8. People, possessions, and circumstances cannot guarantee security, comfort, or salvation. Matt. 6:19-21; Jer. 17:5, Ps 118:8-9
  9. Only God remains constant in the midst of change, chaos, and uncertainties. Heb 13:8, Mal. 3:6; James 1:17
  10. Our trust in God demonstrates submission to His authority and plan for our lives. Ps 20:7, Romans 4:18-22, Romans 12:1-2
  11. Complete reliance/trust on God leads to spiritual growth and maturity. Prov 3:5-6, Psalm 125:1
  12. HOW CAN WE DEVELOP DEEPER TRUST IN GOD?
  13. By studying the word of God, particularly verses about God's character and promises. 2 Samuel 22:29-35; Joshua 1:8
  14. Through prayer, honest conversations with God where we express doubts, fears, joys, and thankfulness. Philipp 4:6-7, James 5:13-16
  15. By practicing obedience as an expression of our faith in God's guidance. Deuteronomy 28:1-14, Isiah 1:19
  16. By Hearing God’s word constantly. Rom 10:17
  17. Surrounding ourselves with Christian Brothers and Sisters for support and encouragement Proverbs 27:17; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

CONCLUSION

As followers of Christ, trusting God should permeate every area of our lives. Through prayer, Scripture meditation, fellowship, and obedience, we can grow in our ability to rely on God wholeheartedly

INTRODUCTION

Trusting God is a choice that leads to a life of peace, joy, and purpose. While challenges may arise, we can overcome them by focusing on God, striving for His wisdom, and relying on His promises.

In this second part of our Bible study on "Trusting God," we will address common obstacles preventing us from growing in trust, steps to overcome these challenges, and also look at the Benefits of trusting God.

  1. HINDRANCES TO TRUSTING GOD
  2. Unbelief. Matt 17:20, Mark 9:23-24
  3. Anxiety, doubt, and worry. Mark 4:18-19. Matthew 6:25; Philippians 4:6-7.

  9. STEPS TO CONQUER BARRIERS TO TRUSTING GOD
  10. Renewing our minds through meditation on scriptural truths. Col 3:16; Rom12:2
  11. Confessing sins, receiving forgiveness, and embracing restoration offered through Christ. 1 John 1:9; Colossians 1:13-14
  12. Encouraging ourselves in the Lord by reminding ourselves of past victories and blessings .Joshua 1:5, 9; Judges 6:12-16
  13. Remembering that God uses adversity to refine and strengthen us. James 1:2-4
  14. Focusing on eternity rather than temporary circumstances.2 Cor 4:16-18,Heb 11:13-16
  15. BENEFITS OF TRUSTING GOD
  16. Peace. Isaiah 26:3

When we trust in God, we experience peace and calm, even in difficult circumstances.

  1. Guidance. Prov 3:5-6,
  2. Protection. 2 Timothy 4:18
  3. Strength. Ps 46:1, Ps 28:7
  4. Hope. Heb 13:5, 2 Cor 1:20
  5. Joy. 1 Peter 1:8, John 15:10-11
  6. Eternal Life. John 3:36, 14:1-3

CONCLUSION

Developing deep, abiding trust in God requires intentional effort and commitment, but the result is produce unspeakable joy, peace, and intimacy with God. May we continually seek ways to grow closer to God so that our trust in Him might flourish in Jesus Name.
