SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS THROUGH PRAISE

PSALM 67:5-7

BIBLE READING: Psalm 150:1-6

INTRODUCTION

The phrase 'showers of blessings' is often referred to as an abundant and overwhelming outpouring of God's Favor received when we express our gratitude to God through praise. Psalm 126:1-6, Ezekiel 34:26-27.

WHAT IS PRAISE

Praise is the acknowledgement of all the wonderful, righteous deeds of God. God is worthy of our praise. PS18:3. This is why he said that, let everything that has breathe praise the lord.

WHY SHOULD WE PRAISE GOD

Praise is important to God because it's a reflection of our recognition of his greatness and a way to acknowledge his goodness and power.

1. Its because, its commanded by God. Ps 150:1

2. Praises brings glory to God. Ps 86:9-10

3. We are created to praise God. Isa 43:21

4. Praises brings God's blessings to us. Ps 133:3

5. Praise God for his mighty Acts and according to his excellent greatness. Ps 150:2

WHAT SHOULD WE USE TO PRAISE God. Ps 150:3-5, Ps 47:1

There are various instruments and ways to praise God.

1. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet, psaltery and harp

2. Praise him with the timbrel and dance

3. Praise him with stringed instruments and organs

4. Praise him upon the loud cymbals and high-sounding cymbals 5. Praise him with the clapping of hands and shouting unto God with a voice of triumph

FIVE TYPES OF PRAISES

1. Zamar -praising God with instruments and singing

2. Shaback-praising God with a high tension and corrosive shout 3. Halal-praising God boastfully

4. Yadah -praising God with lifting of hands

5. Barak -praising God through kneeling, bowing and rowing down before God

EXAMPLES OF MEN OF OLD WHO PRAISED GOD AND GAINED VICTORY

1. Paul and Silas: Acts 16:25-26

Their singing of hymns to God while imprisoned illustrates their unwavering faith and praise even in difficult circumstances

2. The Leper: Lk 17:15-19

The healing of the leper demonstrates his gratefulness. He returned to Jesus to praise him loudly highlighting the importance of expressing gratitude to God.

3. The children of Israel and the wall of Jericho: Josh 6:20

Their praises unto God for seven days collapsed the wall of Jericho demonstrating the mighty hand of God in times of difficulties 4. Jehoshaphat and the children of Israel: 2Chron 20:22-24

Their singing and praises to God in the midst of battles illustrates their total trust in God

5. Job: Job 1:21-22

Job's story showcases his ability to praise God even in the midst of immense suffering and loss.

THE BLESSINGS ATTACH TO PRAISING GOD

Praising God is believing to bring numerous blessings,

1. When Praise goes up, the earth yields its increase. Ps 67:6

2. Praise opens you up to the will of God for your life. 2 Kings 3:15

3. Praise establishes our faith in God. Ps 100:4

4. Praise humbles us. 1 Pet 5:6

5. Praising God is blessing God, causing him to have pleasure in you and releasing to you all godly blessings. Ps 35:27
