Mark 11:25-26

INTRODUCTION

The way of forgiveness is the way prescribed by Christ Jesus for all. The lord Jesus taught us forgiveness, both by precepts and practice. (Luke 23:34)

To forgive comes from the Greek word "APHIMI" meaning literally, to send away, to give up, to keep no longer, to give up resentment against someone, to give up the desire to punish; to stop being angry with someone.

Today, we are going to study on what it takes to forgive those who have trespassed against us

1. THE CHRISTIAN WAY OF FORGIVENESS

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We are to follow Christ precepts and examples of forgiveness

I. Our lord Jesus is a perfect example of forgiveness by teaching and practice. (Matt 8:21-22)

II. The lord Jesus gave us a perfect example by what he did on the cross. (Luke 23:34)

III. Deacon Stephen the first martyr also shows us the example of forgiveness by praying to God to forgive his killers. (Acts 7:60)

IV. The Apostle Paul taught the same, that Christians must practice forgiveness at all costs. Eph 4:32, Col 3:13.

2. THE THOUGHT FOR FORGIVENESS

I. To forgive is not optional rather; it's an obligation from God. When we fail to forgive, we offend God. (Mrk 11:25-26)

II. We should forgive the offender when he repents, but when he fails, for heaven's sake, you should forgive. (Lk 17:4)

III. When we say, we forgive and still go on and punish the offender, we have not truly forgiven. To forgive is to forget. (Ps 103:1-3,12)

3. THE IMPORTANCE OF FORGIVENESS

I. We are called to follow the examples of Christ. Those who injures us, needs our love. (Romans 13:8)

II. Unforgiveness strains our relationship with God and hinders our prayers. (Mrk 11:25-26)
